Rebranding Disney

Recently, Kuruçeşme Divan hosted a great event. The television channel known as „Fox TV“ in Turkey has changed its name to „Now.“ Disney organized a lovely evening for this logo and name change. I also met Cemal Hünal, whom I hadn’t seen in a long time, and we had a nice conversation. A new era has begun in Hünal’s life, whom we know from his wonderful character in the movie „Issız Adam.“ I will tell you about this, but first, let me provide you with some information about the evening. Cenk Soner, General Manager of Disney Turkey, Mehmet İçağasıoğlu, Deputy General Manager, Doğan Şentürk, and Ertuğrul Özkök, Editor-in-Chief of NOW were also present. Changing the logo and name is a challenging task, but they succeeded. Walt Disney Company acquired the media giant 21st Century Fox from the Murdoch Group.

Disney’s Successful Transition Operation

Only Fox News remained with Murdoch. Therefore, the name Fox TV had to be changed in Turkey. Altering logos and names in established and large companies is very risky and difficult. They chose the simplest and safest way. Disney did a very successful job. Indeed, they chose the easiest path. Instead of the word FOX, they introduced the word NOW with the same characters and background colors. It was a successful transition operation. The hall at Kuruçeşme Divan was beautifully designed to reflect the corporate colors. The transition from one name to another was seamless, as if we had known this name for years.

Bob Iger and Disney’s Journey

Disney is a global entertainment company that I know well and have admired for years. They invited me to their 90th anniversary. At this event, we met the legendary CEO of the company, Bob Iger, and had early morning breakfast conversations on both mornings. He was a Marvel fan like me. After taking office, he made Disney the number one global giant through acquisitions like Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars. My grandson Sinan was a fan of the Monsters movies at that time. He particularly liked the character Sully Sullivan. Bob Iger sent me a huge replica of Sully Sullivan. Iger later retired, but the company reappointed him to the position two years ago.
