Accusations have been made against a retired colonel of the US Army in Nebraska for allegedly disclosing US secrets through an online dating site.
David Franklin Slater, 63 years old, worked at the US Strategic Command (Stratcom), which oversees the US nuclear missile arsenal until 2022.
Authorities said Slater is accused of illegally disclosing information that „could be used to the detriment of the United States“ and will appear in court. The published indictment documents stated that Slater had disclosed information from secret Stratcom briefings on the Russian invasion in Ukraine to a person he believed was a woman living in Ukraine.
In a statement from the prosecution, he mentioned being frequently asked questions when exchanging memoranda on US national defense secrets.
If Slater is found guilty, he could face up to ten years in prison.
