Das Argument, dass „der schottische Premierminister Hamza Yusuf seinen Rücktritt vorbereitet“
T24 International News
Reports suggest that Hamza Yusuf, the First Minister of Scotland and leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP), is preparing to resign, citing a lack of support expected in the faith vote scheduled for this week.
The newspaper „Guardian“ disclosed that the final decision has not been made yet but might be reached in the next few hours.
In his statement following the end of the power-sharing agreement with the Scottish Green Party, Hamza Yusuf stated that he believed he would win the faith vote and had no intention to step down.
The country’s first Muslim Prime Minister
Yusuf, who won the race for leadership on March 27, 2023, following the resignation of former Scottish First Minister and SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon, was sworn in two days later and officially started his term on March 29, becoming „Scotland’s first Muslim Prime Minister.“ Hamza Yusuf’s father was of Pakistani origin and migrated to Scotland in the 1960s, while his mother was born in Kenya to a South Asian family.
