Meta, the owner of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, shared details about the new generation of MTIA, the chip family designed for artificial intelligence workloads.
Meta’s statement highlighted that the latest version of MTIA shows significant performance improvements compared to the first version.
Emphasizing that MTIA is a module of the company’s growing investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure, it was stressed that the chip family will complement the current and future artificial intelligence infrastructure to offer new and better experiences with Meta’s products and services.
The statement noted that investments in this area are expected to increase in the coming years as artificial intelligence models become more complex and information processing to support the models is required.
Referring to the fact that the first generation of MTIA was introduced last year, the statement mentioned that the new generation more than doubled the information processing and memory bandwidth compared to the previous solution and is designed to efficiently provide users with high-quality offering models.
In the increasingly competitive chip market for artificial intelligence, companies such as Nvidia, Intel, and Alphabet are introducing their new products.
