Inspection of pedestrian crossings in Kadıköy, Istanbul
During the inspections in Kadıköy, Istanbul, interesting events took place to give pedestrians priority in traffic and promote the use of pedestrian crossings. The teams of the Traffic Inspection Directorate conducted inspections on drivers who did not yield to pedestrians wanting to cross the pedestrian crossing on Kadıköy-Söğütlüçeşme Street.
During drone-assisted checks, 4 drivers were identified who did not give way to pedestrians wanting to use the pedestrian crossing. These drivers were fined a total of 12,540 Lira.
Some drivers protested against the fine and wanted to see the drone footage. If a driver said, „I’m not even sure if I ran a red light, they say there are drone images. That’s true. If the police say so, there must be recordings,“ he reacted as follows.
Another driver objected to the fine, saying, „I am not aware of my past. Sin is an unjust act. That is very wrong. If it were my fault, I would admit it.“ He expressed his reaction as follows:
