In Büyükçekmece, it is alleged that the school principal hit four students for talking during an earthquake drill. Parents arrived at the school to check on their children, including Hakan Usha, who got injured in a dispute with the manager. Following a complaint, the school principal was arrested.
The incident took place around 1:00 p.m. at the Batıköy Memurdan Armağan primary and secondary school in the Mimasinan district.
Reportedly, during the earthquake drill, the principal hit four students who were talking. The students called their parents and explained the situation. A dispute arose between Hakan Utanç, one of the parents who came to the school, and the principal.
The altercation escalated into a fight, resulting in Utanç being injured in the eye and fingers. An ambulance and the police were dispatched to the school upon notification. Utanç and four students were taken to the hospital by ambulance. After medical procedures, the students and their parents filed a complaint against the principal.
While investigations into the incident are ongoing, the school principal has been arrested.
Hakan Utanç described the incident as follows: „I simply asked him, ‚Is it true?‘ He replied, ‚What if it were?‘ This led to a fight between us. Apart from the fight, I was also lynched by other teachers.“
The mother of one of the students who was allegedly hit, İpek Usta, stated, „My child called me and said, ‚Mom, the principal hit me.‘ I went to the school, and he also hit the other children. He hit me out of nowhere, just as he pleased. At the hospital, he said, ‚I provide your children with education that you cannot provide. Through hitting.‘ He talks to us about education through hitting. ‚I believe they also hit him,‘ he said.“
