Anagold-Mine Site and Fault Line Scandal
The scandal at the Anagold mine site in Erzincan İliç came to light with the changes in the official fault line map of the General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA). According to Deputy CHP Chairman Deniz Yavuzyılmaz, it was revealed that there were differences between the MTA maps of 2013 and 2023, with the Ovacık fault line-Munzur section running beneath the mining area.
Deletion of Fault Lines and Mining Activities
According to Yavuzyılmaz’s documents, although the fault line was clearly visible on the 2013 MTA map, it was claimed to have been deleted on the 2023 map. This has raised concerns about the safety and environmental impact of the mine site. The landslide disaster in the mining area and the stranding of the workers further exacerbated these concerns.
