Woody Allen, in his latest film Coup de Chance, after the release of „In the USA,“ hinted once again that he would retire from filmmaking, saying he was „undecided“ about making another film.

Allen, „I am undecided on this issue,“ he said and continued as follows:
„I don’t want to go out to raise money. I find it annoying. But if someone calls and says they want to support cinema, then I think that is important. I probably wouldn’t have the willpower to say no because I have so many ideas.“
After months of delays and hidden screenings, Coup de Chance was released in the United States on April 5. Allen told Air Mail from the USA, „I don’t care if I get distributed here or not. Once I do, I don’t follow it anymore. Distribution is no longer the same.“ he said.
Director, Oscar-winning film Annie Hall, he said that when it was released in 1977, it ran in theaters for „a little over a year“ and continued:
„Now the release in theaters lasts two weeks. The whole business has changed, and not in a glamorous way. All the romance of filmmaking has disappeared.“
It is Allen’s 50th feature film. Coup de Chance, was protested in US cinemas after its premiere at the Venice Film Festival in 2023.
Allen has adopted his daughter Dylan Farrow since #MeToo in 1992. Due to allegations of sexual harassment against him, he was virtually ostracized by Hollywood.
Allen, who was investigated by the Yale-New Haven Hospital’s Child Abuse Clinic and the New York Department of Community Services and was acquitted in both cases, has always maintained his innocence.
