Joe Biden zu Trump: „Ein ehemaliger republikanischer Führer sagt Putin: ‚Tu, was du willst‘“

In the annual „State of the Union“ address to the state and government leaders before a joint session of Congress, US leader Joe Biden, the Republican front-runner, attacked his opponent Donald Trump, accusing him of „threatening US democracy and bowing to Russia.“ Biden stated that he wanted to remain in the White House for another four years.

In his final „State of the Union“ address before the elections, Biden accused Trump, his Republican opponent in the November 5 elections, of concealing the truth about the raid in Congress on January 6, 2021, against Russian President Vladimir Putin. He accused Trump of bending US law and blocking a bill that would have tightened restrictions on Mexico.

During his 68-minute speech, Biden said: „„Now, my predecessor, a former Republican leader, tells Putin, ‚Do as you wish.‘ I find that repulsive, dangerous, and unacceptable.“

President Biden made various jabs at Republican lawmakers with jokes apparently aimed at dispelling concerns previously raised about his age and mental state.

Biden accused Trump and his supporters of distorting the facts about the Capitol raid on January 6, 2021, stating: „My predecessor and some of you here are trying to cover up the truth about January 6. I will not do that. ‚You can’t just love your country when you win.‘

Opinion polls show that 81-year-old Biden and 77-year-old Trump are neck and neck in the race. A majority of American voters are not interested in a rematch after Biden defeated Trump four years ago.
