Dorfbewohner filmten das Leck aus der Mine des AKP-Abgeordneten in Giresun: „Die Chemikalie vermischt sich direkt mit dem Wald.“

Soner Aydın, who lives in the village of Giresun Doğankent Çatalağaç, stated that the waste pool of the mining company had been mixed into the forest and the stream. Images taken near the leak show, „The waste was stored by installing a membrane below the waste pool,“ said Aydın. „They say they pumped the leaking chemical water back to the waste storage with a hose, but there is no random footage there. They directly link the chemical here with our forest. It mixes directly with the forest.“

AKP-Iğdır deputy, who operates lead, zinc, and copper mines in the village of Giresun Doğankent Çatalağaç, Cantürk Alagöz claimed that there was a leak in the waste pool of Alagöz Maden Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. Soner Aydın, one of the villagers, claimed in the images he took from the mining area that chemical waste was flowing into nature.

Aydın pointed out that the waste pool was 230,000 cubic meters in size and stated that they had complained about the situation to the provincial directorate for environment, urbanization, and climate change. Soner Aydın told the ANKA news agency the following about the views he expressed from the area:

Aydın claimed that in the footage, wastewater was flowing into the forest through a outlet pipe, and said: „We will witness the vegetation here dying over time.“

Aydın explained that the waste was stored by installing a membrane below the waste pool: „They say they pumped the leaked chemical water back to the waste storage with a hose, but it was not shot. They directly link the chemical here with our forest. „It mixes directly with the forest,“ he said.

Ministry: There is no random infiltration

Aydın complained to the Presidential Liaison Center (CİMER) about the mining company and stated that „the streams have been exposed to pollution by the company for three years.“ In response to the issue, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change stated that „no random leaks or signs of infiltration were found during the on-site inspection.“

When asked by ANKA for a statement, the company in question did not respond.
